Half Frozen Speed and Eramosa Rivers

At the Covered Bridge Where
The Eramosa and the Speed Rivers Meet

If this were summer, this place would be very crowded with people walking along the river eating ice cream cones or just having a chat.

But only the many ducks and a few geese are having a good time in this frozen wilderness that is half frozen and half open water.

I used to lug a fifty pound bag of cracked corn to the park in the dead of winter, every day, and there were no ducks or geese in sight. So I took it to the faster flowing creek and there they were in the much warmer water enjoying life. I dumped it in the shallows and they ate it up in no time. I can't believe I could carry that and walk in winter weather like that but in those days I could.

Very nice photo Pat. It looks really beautiful there and better without all the crowds.

Lovely shot - it looks a very tranquil spot, though I guess the price to pay for the tranquility is the temperature!
